Though we typically only turn back the clocks a few years in our weekly Throwback Thursday feature, we decided to look further back for this week's pick after coming across an image from the Toronto Archives depicting UrbanToronto's offices in 1933. Prior to 1965, the current stretch of Adelaide Street East between Jarvis Street and Parliament Street was known as Duke Street. The view below, incorrectly labeled as facing west, actually faces east along Duke from Sherbourne.

Fast forward to 2015, and the former Heintzman piano factory on the left side of the image above is now part of a complex called Studio City, home to UrbanToronto's offices. Much of the area's historic character has been preserved, while new additions like Ivory on Adelaide have added a modern counterbalance.

We will return next week with another look at the changing face of Toronto!
