It has been a few months since we last checked in on the construction progress at the site of Aspen Ridge Homes' Studio on Richmond, a Quadrangle Architects-designed complex in Toronto's Entertainment District. The development consists of the 31-storey Studio, now topped off at 328 feet and fully clad, and the 41-storey Studio2, which now is fast approaching its final height of 425 feet above the intersection of Nelson and Duncan Streets, as it has only the structure of the mechanical penthouse to be completed to reach its peak.

The first tower is now fully clad and closing in on completion, while cladding installation continues on the taller building.

As with its shorter sibling to the northeast, Studio2's podium levels have been clad in a textured precast finish, while the tower portion is being clad in a light grey and silver window wall, now reaching the 22nd level.

A pair of design feature apparent in the image above are the drawer-like balconies which reset every six storeys with every two-storey horizontal notch in the building's facades. The push-pull effect of these balconies will appear even more pronounced once balcony glazing has been installed.

While the completed complex will add 762 residential units to the Entertainment District, the infusion of more 'round-the-clock life isn't the only positive effect Studio and Studio2 will have on the Entertainment District, as most of the complex's colourful Richmond Street frontage will soon become new gallery space for OCAD University, bringing more cultural richness to an area named for its theatre, dining, and nightlife scene.
