Wellesley Street East has been subject to new growth and intensification, given its immediately proximity to the subway station. One project under construction in particular, steps from the subway is Plaza's50 at Wellesley Station. When we last provided an update at the end of October, the foundation level was beginning to shape the base of the site with concrete covering rebar cages, all while excavation was wrapping up at the north end of the site.

In the time since, construction crews have just installed what appears to be a base for the crane, currently performing as a base for a concrete pump (as seen in red). Additionally, temporary fencing has now enclosed the building's footprint to prepare for the rise of the below-grade floors. The concrete pump has an hydraulically operated arm which the workers can position over where fluid concrete is needed to be placed.

Despite equipment now blocking some of the desired vantage points for viewing the construction, pedestrians can still overlook different aspects of the site. While the south side blocks the foundation rafting work, the image below shows the north part of the pit fully excavated, while the image above does in fact give hints of work on the foundations in progress.

Once complete by the summer of 2018, the 37-storey Quadrangle designed condo will be home to 365 residential units, with a three-level underground parking garage, fit for 163 spaces. Amenity spaces such as an indoor pool, gym, and a game room will also be found within. The interior space is designed by Byron Patton and Associates

We will keep you updated as construction workers begin the climb back up to grade level, and along the way as the building heads for its final height of 377 ft. In the meantime, our dataBase file, linked below, has more information about the condominium, including renderings, floorplans, and pricing. Want to share your thoughts?
