With shoring and excavation complete, Camrost-Felcorp's Cumberland at Yorkville Plaza is set to begin rising above the site where the podium of the Four Seasons Hotel once stood. With the former hotel building located immediately to the north now in the process of becoming The New Residences of Yorkville Plaza, the highly fashionable district is set to welcome a significant influx of new residential density over the coming years.

Often considered one of Canada's most trendy and desirable neighborhoods, the Yorkville area boasts some of the highest property values in North America, while the former Four Seasons Hotel also played host to many of the city's most prominent visitors, lending the project a certain cachet. The 40-storey tower, where below grade construction is currently progressing, is set to add another note of vibrancy to the prominent district, bringing 363 suites—and some 500 new residents—to the neighborhood.

Designed by WZMH Architects, the condominium tower will feature suites ranging in size from 385 to 855 square feet, while the new podium will house amenity space. The amenities will include an indoor pool and whirlpool spa, as well as a steam room, all of which will be housed in the building's aquatic centre (below). Health conscious residents will also be able to take advantage of a gym and yoga studio, while an outdoor terrace space with barbecues and a fully equipped prep kitchen will provide a place to relax.

Rounding out the amenities—which are appointed by interior specialists The Design Agency—two guest suites will provide overnight accommodation for visitors. For residents and guests alike, 24-hour concierge service will also be available.

The current below-grade work represents one of the most laborious and challenging parts of the construction process, in which forms are built for the tower's unique lower levels (as seen above). Once construction reaches grade, the podium floors, which will house the amenities, will also take a significant amount of time to build, while the tower levels are expected to proceed more quickly.
