A lot can change in just a couple of years in Toronto. One area where high-rise growth is particularly evident is in the burgeoning South Core district, which has grown in a short period from disused railway lands into a lively extension of the Downtown Core.
Back on April 3, 2014, the South Core skyline was in the process of growing with the addition of the 57 and 67-storey Ïce Condominiums towers on the north side of the Gardiner Expressway, while the RBC Waterpark Place III office tower was rising to the south. Marked by their tower cranes, all three towers had topped out at the time this photo was taken, while cladding installation was in the process of sealing off the buildings.

Just under two and a half years later, on September 24, 2016, the completed Ïce and Waterpark Place III developments are now being joined by the Sun Life Financial Tower & Harbour Plaza Residences complex. The three-tower development consists of a 35-storey office tower (obscured in this view) plus 63 and 67-storey condominium towers, which are now approaching their final heights. The area is becoming so dense, that another condo tower, Ten York, is now over 20 storeys tall (on its way to 65) and yet it is also entirely hidden behind the Harbour Plaza towers in this view as well.
