Toronto's emerging South Core area has come a long way in just a few short years. Back in the Spring of 2013, the view west from a condominium at 33 Bay Street overlooked three major construction projects. On the far left of the image below, we can see that forming was underway for the podium levels of the RBC WaterPark Place III, a 930,000 square foot, 30-storey office tower on Queens Quay. At the centre of the image, the excavated pit of the mixed-use Sun Life Financial Tower & Harbour Plaza Residences development is visible. Right of centre, the architectsAlliance-designed Ïce Condominiums could be seen rising into the skyline, with a sliver of one of the Infinity buildings visible to the left.

Fast forward three years to this week, and the landscape has morphed considerably. Ïce Condominiums and RBC WaterPark Place III are both completed and respectively filled with residents and commercial tenants. At the centre of the image, the two Harbour Plaza Residences condominium towers are growing quickly towards their 62 and 66 storey final heights, while obscuring the nearly-complete Sun Life Financial Tower at One York Street just behind them.
